SPINONE BREED STANDARDS

Following, you will find links to Spinone standards around the world.

The ENCI standard is the official standard for the Spinone in its country of origin, Italy.  This is also the standard referred to by FCI.  You will want to note that in Italy the Spinone is also referred to as the Italian Griffon. When you go to this site, you will need to click on Italian Griffon to go to the standard. This standard is the basis for all other Spinone standards.

The official AKC standard is the one that will be used to judge the Spinone as it enters competition in the Sporting Group later this fall.  It is the standard that breeders in the United States use in their quest for the perfect Spinone.

The Kennel Club standard is used to judge Spinone in Great Britain.  In the British Isles, the Spinone is shown as a representative of the Gun Dog Group.
